I started White Bark Workwear approaching 4 years ago with a desire to provide organic and sustainable apparel to the hospitality industry. After years working in fashion, I had this thought that it would be bakers, cooks, chefs, bartenders, servers, and anyone working in food and beverage that would best recognize the necessity of using organic ingredients. I believed that the farm to table, farmers market, sustainable seafood supporting individuals would be the first to catch on to the idea that Our Clothing & Food are Grown in the Same Soil, and in a large part they have. In the last 4 years my business has been supported almost entirely by the hospitality industry. In all my life I have never felt or seen such an appreciation, loyalty, and community towards myself and one another as I have in these last 4 years.
With that in mind I felt an immediate urge to help as simply and as quickly as I could. While feeling powerless at the same time I could not sit idly by as the news started to pour in that restaurants would be the first to be hit. I reached out to Samm Deboda to design some artwork that I felt would reflect on our mutual feelings of uncertainty and hope. The longing to get through these difficult times and to rebuild together- with help from near and far. I believe she did a wonderful job and I urge you to share this with as many people outside of your network of hospitality workers in order to cast the widest net.
